Well, we've just got back from Queen Elizabeth Hall where we saw Robyn Hitchcock and friends perform a complete rendition of the original Games For May concert from May 1967, complete with dancing girls, daffodils and bubbles (the seats are now leather so they won't get stained).

Here's the setlist:

Dawn (tape recording)
Matilda Mother
Flaming
Scarecrow
Jugband Blues
See Emily Play
Bike
Arnold Layne
Candy and a Currant Bun
Pow R. Toc H.
Interstellar Overdrive (complete with girls handing out daffodils.  I have one here as well a setlist)
Bubbles (tape recording complete with bubble machine)

Interval

Various Syd solo songs, some of which I'm not sure of so I'll wait for Sue to pop up and fill us in on those if she'd be so kind
Reaction in G
Astronomy Domine
Lucifer Sam
Band Introductions
See Emily Play (played again as an encore because "that's it, there aren't any more so we'll play this one as an encore")
Ending (tape recording)

The band consisted of:

Robyn Hitchcock
Graham Coxon
Terry Edwards
Paul Noble
Kim Rew
Daniel "Woody" Woodgate (the drummer from Madness!)
Morris Windsor
Isobel Campbell
Matthew Cullen

And finally, the lighting rig.  What can I say?  The first three rows of the upper tier of seats, where we were sitting, was completely taken over by a huge "table" on which was an assortment of old slide projector lights, mirrors and all sorts of weird goodies including bottles of coloured dye for the slides and other crazy stuff.  It needed four guys to get it all projected on to the backdrops and the result was amazing - just like you see in the photos of the 60's performances.  Peter Wynne Wilson himself was there, in charge of this bewildering mess and they somehow pulled it off!

Lorna has photos and video and I'm sure you can guess who has an audio recording of proceedings.

Photos and more stuff later.

That sounds like pretty much the same set-up as was used at Barbican Centre for Madcaps Last Laugh where they had it all set up at the back row of the Stalls. Quite an impressive (and authentic, of course, even down to the guy running it) result considering the very much Heath Robinson affair !

Wish I'd known about this as I would have been way more than a bit tempted to come up to London for a sort of action replay of Syd's Stuff     I'm surprised they didn't advertise or at least mention it at the Barbican tribute - unless it was already sold out of course.

OK, a couple of photos for you to be getting on with.

As you can see, Lorna made sure the middle part of the lighting table was included in both shots and you can see how chaoitc-looking it all was.  Also, the guys operating it were a bit mad, as can be seen from the light-coat in the second picture.  The one on the right was wearing a flying helmet and evening tux coat.

It looks like we're right at the front, but as the seating is sloping we were above their head level and the front section of audience was in front of and below the lighting table.
