TOPIC: Obscured by Clouds...My 11th Floyd Studio album

Obscured by Clouds...My 11th Floyd Studio album 4 years, 9 months ago #1

I just bought this album a 2 days ago...

I like it a lot, more then I thought I would....

Songs I love- Obscured by Clouds, When You're In, Burning Bridges, The Gold it's in the..., Mudmen, Stay, Free Four Absolutely Curtains

Songs I think are ok- Childhoods end

Songs I dont like at all- Wot's uh the deal

I love the first 2 songs and how they just rock out....Mudmen is probably my favorite song, very great song and shows why Rick is important....Stay is also a great song and it might be my new fav by rick, even through see saw is pretty hard to top...

This seems like a Gilmour album to me more then a Waters album, and I like how Waters only sings on one song...and its a good song....

Pretty great album, I like how it sounds different then other stuff they did...Variety is always good...

Only 3 more studio Floyd albums to go, AHM, Umma, and More

Hi Jeff. Yeah Obscured by Clouds is a pretty good album. Interestingly the one song you did'nt like is my favourite song on the Album (Wot's uh the deal). I believe David played it a bit in his recent tour (which i did'nt catch as he did'nt play in Dublin......Doh). I actually played the tune after the pub with my mates the other night, albeit a locked (drunken) attempt.
For your remaining 3 Albums my own opinion is go for Atom Heart Mother first, Ummagumma second and More third. there are high and low points in them all but my impression is that the 4 Floyd lads dismiss those 3 works somewhat

Wots ... Uh The Deal and Free Four have to be the best songs on the album for me.

Yep, Free Four is a great song also. I believe it might be Roger's second reference to his Dad (after Saucerful's "Corporal Clegg" if I'm understanding it correctly)?
For the other 3 Albumber being considered by Mr J Floyd my fave songs on each is
1. On Atom Heart Mother - Fat Old Sun
2. On Ummagumma - Grandchester Meadows (For the Studio Side of the Album) and Astronomy Domine (for the Live Side of the Album)
3. On More - Cirrus Minor (Also on "Relics" which is a nice compilation of earlies)

It is a reference to Roger's little "problem", yes.

Aye, it's strange that those first two references are somewhat whimsical compared to the more mournful takes on the theme in later albums

Has anyone seen "La Valle" or "More"? What are the films about and are they any good?
