Isn't it great when you get the opportunity to rediscover music all over again? The past year or so has been so hectic for me that I've rarely found the time to listen to anything; I've been so busy with work, a two year old and a two month old that getting a chance to relax with some music is a rarity. Heck, all I get an opportunity to listen to is songs involving Thomas the Tank Engine - the only live show I've been to in a year was a stage show of good ole Thomas! The other night, though, I was giving my youngest son his evening bottle and was flicking through the channels on television. What did I find on PBS? A broadcast of the Aussie Pink Floyd! Wow! They were amazing, as usual. But, after having not listened to anything for so long, they sounded especially new and crisp to me; it was lovely. That night, after I got the kids to bed, I listened to a whole bunch of Floyd. Man, I it was like hearing them for the first time.

Just thought I'd share that with you all. I keep waiting for word of the Aussie's North American tour. It is the one night of the year that I get to go out, listen to some excellent music, and have a blast. I sure hope they are still touring when my sons are old enough to go! Anyway, happy foruming to you all, and I hope you have the opportunity to rediscover even one old Floyd fav that you have not heard in some time - it is a good feeling. Cheers.

Ah that brings back memories. Been there, done that, bought the tee shirt. I know my son who has two young kids enjoys the nights off we can give him by us having the grandkids stay here for the odd weekend. I'm not sure he spends the time re-discovering Pink Floyd though, although he is a big fan. As for myself I find that if I dig out an old album I have not visited for a while I end up listening to it for a couple of weeks.
Are we nearly there yet?

I played them all last week, as background music to work to. Every Floyd album start to finish except the live ADSOT as PULSE
is better in my opinion. Missed out the 'best of' Echoes too. I also managed to fit in Roger's 'Hitchhiking' and Dave's
'on an island'.

Just played 'More' again this morning. A very underrated album. Now then, time for TAPFS animals I think..

That's awesome.  I've actually listened to so much Floyd before that I feel like I might get "Floyded out".  I'm afraid I'll get so bored with it that it won't have meaning to me anymore.  So I'll switch gears and listen to heavy metal (Slayer, Megadeth, old Metallica), or the other extreme--hippie music (Jefferson Airplane, Canned Heat, Cream)... but somehow I always come back to Pink Floyd.  I would say that overall, Pink Floyd is really the only constant in my life.  Everything else changes.
Ashes and diamonds, foe and friend...we were all equal in the end.
