TOPIC: Cambridge remembers Syd

Cambridge remembers Syd 3 years, 10 months ago #1

Interested in this, several events planned around the city to remember Syd and help charities. Rosemary is involved as are some of Syd's old friends including Storm. I wonder if PF themselves will get involved?

Looks interesting Andy.  Well worth keeping an eye on this.

Mick Rock's pictures are well worth seeing alone.  Went to an exhibition of his PF pictures a couple of years back.  There were several exquisite pictures of Syd on show.

Incidentally, Storm has an exhbition at the Oxo Tower on the Southbank from 24 July to 10 August.

I shall be going to this at some point. It's free too!

Watch the local news item on this, as highlighted on the Syd 'City Wakes' site. Cambridge looking fine as usual in it's splendour.

Been umming and ahhing about this event for a while, but now daughter and have booked  for it!

I was told to go away because of some work that needs doing on the house which might put the bathroom out of action for a couple of days.  Well, I didn’t argue and when an email arrived yesterday advertising talks by Storm Thorgerson and the photographer Mick Rock (both of whom my daughter has been studying for  her art and photography projects), we jumped at it.

On Friday we shall visit an exhibition of Syd’s work and then go on to see The City Wakes, featuring video art from choreographer and film artist Darren Johnston and psychedelic lighting from Peter Wynne Willson.

On the Saturday, we’re going to talks by Storm Thorgerson and Mick Rock during the afternoon.  In the evening we have tickets for a Syd Barrett City Wakes Gala evening at the Trinity Chapel.

I’m just looking at the Harley Davidson tour of Cambridge now

A Cambridge pilgrimage … how exciting!

Andy, forgot to ask you about restaurants.  We like Thai, Italian, Indian, Greek and Turkish food - can you make any recommendations please?
