TOPIC: DSOTM on BBC Radio 1, Dec 3rd

DSOTM on BBC Radio 1, Dec 3rd 3 years, 5 months ago #1

Tune in to BBC Radio 1 at 7pm, Wed 3rd December to hear the album in it's entirety.

There's a facebook page to try and get the biggest audience listening to the album at any one time.
www.facebook.com/home.php#/event.php?eid=41980011891

From that page:
"Let’s try to break the record for the most people listening to Dark Side Of The Moon at the same time! As part of our Masterpieces series (where we celebrate four truly great albums), Zane Lowe will be playing it IN FULL, gaps and all, on his Radio 1 show on Dec 3 at 7pm.

As well the amazing experience of hearing the album with a community of millions of other Floyd fans (and hopefully some new ones), you’ll also be able to hear interviews and other great stuff about the album and band.

Let us know your stories about why you love this album here on Facebook or on www.bbc.co.uk/radio1 on the night itself. Also, let us know if you're holding a Pink Floyd listening party of your own!"

Whilst on the DSOTM theme, I popped into my picture framers this morning. He was halfway through a job for a customer and I couldn't help noticing and taking a nosey look. He was framing a mint DSOTM album cover, which had the vinyl record inside in it's sleeve (never played) and all of the posters and stickers. To top it all, the cover was signed by all four band members in gold ink!

Quite an intricate frame he was making, with a door on the front so the cover could be opened up and contents taken out if necessary. Very nice!

I've been listening to some of Zane Lowe this week to see how it works.

The album itself isn't until 9pm when Zane plays it right through with no stops. At 8pm there is a sort of "Making Of" where he plays songs influenced by the particular album and a general background to the album.

Will probably be tuning in from 8 i think.
I love Aussie Floyd. Simple as that lol.

Although we've all heard it a million times, great to hear it on the radio knowing that the whole album, no interruptions, was being broadcast. Nice to hear Paul McCartney's comments on it beforehand and the fact Wings were in an ajoining studio at Abbey Road, not knowing that the album being made next door would become one of the greatest ever. Hopefully some new younger music fans/Radio 1 listeners will now get into Floyd.
