As DSOTM is my #1 album of all time I have taken to collecting it. There are a large number of different issues and masterings of the album and the Mobile Fidelity Labs (MFSL) pressing is considered one of the best - there are 8 differing UK versions of DSOTM on CD alone! The Holy Grail is the June 1983 first pressing produced in Japan, at the Shizuoka Prefecture CBS/Sony pressing plant. This was actually one of the first CD pressing plants in the world - if you have a Japanese pressing with a catalogue number of CP35-3017, hang on to it . . . it's worth a lot of money! (and can I have your address

) Audiophiles regard this Japanese CD as the best version of DSOTM available, with the MFSL running a close second.
I have 5 differing versions at present and this new addition is wonderful. Produced by MFSL in a limited edition by direct mastering from the original master tapes onto a 24kt Gold plated disc, as opposed to production copies traditionally used for mass production. There is also no messing with it! No noise reduction, sound boosting, brick walling or anything, just the original master direct to a gold CD.
I still have at least 6 more versions on my hit list, with the Grail as the ultimate addition to my collection
