TOPIC: Dissecting The Wall

Dissecting The Wall 2 years ago #1

Well geez folks we only have 6 more months (5 for some) to talk about the upcoming RW tour.  Hopefully thats enough time  For 2 weeks now I've been listening to Is There Anybody Out There.  I must say The Wall is probaly one of my lesser fav albums but slowly growing up the latter.  I've recently read a tidbit from some rag about Rog lip syncing parts from last tour.  Have no idea if just stirring up crap but hopefully not.  My thoughts here are if this is or isn't the case then "Don't Leave Me Now" will truely tests Mr. Waters vocals.  Seems when singing live back in 80 was a strain enough on the man.  Very interested to see if he does handle his own parts or passes off various challanges to his supporting cast.  Whatever he decides to do please don't leave it up to pre-recorded sound bites. Lots of things going on in this album.  This is just one small corner.  Should be interesting.  Any thoughts?

Before I was into Amused to Death, 3 years ago I thought it was really cheesy the fake crowd noise on some songs.  Now that I like the album, I realize he was only using those pre-recorded sounds on the songs from that album that had them.  It makes Perfect Sense now!

As for faking vocals on other stuff not sure.

There was a discussion about the lip sync-ing by some Forum members who saw Roger at Hyde Park a few years back.

Larry, where are you when your input is required?

Did not see a shred of evidence in that thread.

Hi Frog.  Agreed - it may not be the best example, but was the first one I remembered from having seen him at Hyde Park.  I'm not saying its a bad thing - just that he may be doing it more this time around.  His voice isn't getting any younger.  If you look back through the forum posts for Roger Waters there are some other examples.  If you read down through the first couple of pages here, for example:  www.tapfs.com/forum/index.php/topic,358.0.html

That thread has also reminded me to have another listen to that fantastic ROIO of the event (also mentioned in that thread)
