TOPIC: Looky what I found today.....

Looky what I found today..... 1 year, 10 months ago #1

So I'm in Cincinnati Ohio doing shows this week and there is an antique mall right down the road and I have been going there everyday checking it out. This place is HUGE and I'm still not half way through.

Anyway, today one of the guys that work for us wanted to go and he asked if there were any good records there. I said yea a few, I wish there was some nice PF though. I had DSOTM in high school and someone stole it, I'd like to find another one in good condition.

RIGHT AFTER I said that, we turned the corner to where the records were, and there it was!!! It was even leaned up against the pile of the other records so it was the first one you saw. We both saw it and gasped. I took off running toward it and held it up like I had just found the Holy Grail! I swear I even heard the angelic music (Ahhhhhhh) in the background.

It was so weird cuz I was just in there yesterday and went through like 200 and didn't see it. When I checked out I asked the cleark where it came from, and he said the owner had brought in a lot of stuff that day and it was probably one of them. It freaked me out cuz I had just spoken the words. Adam was like, you should have said you were looking for a million dollars. He also added that if it wasn't for him wanting to go look at the records, I wouldn't have seen it, and he was right, I wouldn't have gone back over there, so if anything ever happens to me, I gotta leave it to him, lol!

I am soooo happy with my find and wanted to share with my fellow PF friends!  ;D YEEEOOWWW

The cover is a little scratched, but side 1 is mint!! And there is a small scratch on the top of side 2, but that's it! I can't wait to get home and listen to it (in September :-\)
I got a strong urge to fly......but I got nowhere to fly to.

Nice one Wonder Woman - it's nice to get a pleasant surprise isn't it? Please take the wise words of bigdog on board though. Also, please don't store your precious find 'at an angle' or flat with anything else on top of it - it will distort the shape. Stood vertically like books on a bookshelf is the best recommendation if you don't mind me suggesting.

I remember that about 4 or 5 years ago I was given a copy of Dark Side on vinyl by Charley and her family. Like you, I was chuffed to pieces to get it. Unfortunately though, whilst the record and the sleeve were in practically mint condition, the posters etc that came with it originally were missing.

From time to time we have a wander around a small town in Sussex called Rye. There's a shop there which sells old vinyl, cd's etc. It's in a disused church and it's a veritable Aladins Cave. Anyway, I thought there might be a chance that I could get some or all of the missing items so I asked the guy who runs it if he would keep a look out for me. He said he had "a pile of old junk under the counter" and that I could rummage through it if I wanted to. So I did, and there before me, buried in the pile, was a complete set. Not only that, but they were in mint condition, no dog ears, pin marks or torn corners where the posters had been put up on bedroom walls (as was the habit when I was in my teens). Naturally I couldn't believe my luck and in my best casual, couldn't really care if I get them or not, tone of voice I asked the guy how much he wanted for them. Back came the reply, "Oh, give us a fiver (£5) if you like, I was going to have a clear out soon 'cos they're in the way". Needless to say, money changed hands rapidly and I was away down the street feeling decidedly pleased with myself.

Awesome. I hope I will be as lucky one day!!! Oh, and it couldn't have found a better owner!

Awww, thank you!!!  :-* I hope you find one too!

I know, I know, I usually do. But the other hand was holding the camera  . I won't do it again, I promise!

Under my player at home there is rack that holds them upright. Till I get home though I am taking very  good care of it!!!

That's so cool Mike! Glad you got a good find too!!! That's an awesome story. It's funny that the old saying is true..."Ones man's trash is another man's treasure"! Yea, no posters in mine, but I didn't expect that. So you have the 2 copy's now?! SWEET!

I do have The White Album with all the posters, and it is PERFECT!! It was my dad's though, so he kept them in great condition. Too bad he didn't have any Floyd.

Oooooo, rotating 12" diameter music emitting black plasticy thingies cleverly containing around 40(ish) minutes of aural pleasure in 2 sittings This image is hidden for guests. ... wanders off to find and lovingly stroke Ye Olde Vinyls various, stashed away somewhere relatively safe but rather sadly, all unloved and unplayed for several [s]years[/s] decades now
