Where else can you get John McLaughlin, Dave Brubeck (Take 5 was sensational), Fairport Convention and Riverdance all in one setlist? Last night?s performance by Acoustic Unlimited combined all of these and a lot more with a show that went from slow gentle soundscapes to duelling stunt guitars and all points in between. The show went off without problems apart from Damian announcing that he was having difficulty with his G String after the first number and they had to take a five minute break while he went backstage to relieve his difficulty.
The band was down to a three piece, comprising Damian, Gareth and Steve Gaffney on six string fretless bass. Mike Kidson sat in for most of the second set on sax, chicken and lemon (you had to be there). They were also joined on a few numbers by Howie G from
The Primeval Leviathan of Truth (The P.L.O.T.), who also plays a mean guitar.
