Hi All,

Sorry this review has taken some time, been busy in the Christmas run up.

We went to see Iron Maiden at Sheffield Arena on the 18th Dec, but have to say I was so disappointed with the show

The actual performance the band put in was good but was let down by VERY poor sound quality, Bruce Dickinsons vocals were lost, guitar and bass seemed a distorted mess and drums were almost non ex histant ???,also the lighting seemed very 80's and rather basic.

Now I'm no sound engineer but something seemed quiet amiss, maybe it was our seating positions, in the back corner of the arena right at the top, but surely this situation with poor sound is a thing of the past with modern setup techniques, if Aussie Floyd can get this right then a rock group that has been around for some time would have perfected it by now.

Maiden played the whole of their new album, A Matter Of Life And Death(which got a little tedious towards the end, people were booing!!) and then a selection of previous hits, but NO Number Of The Beast or Run To The Hills though. Fear Of The Dark was the highlight of the night.

The support act, Trivium, also suffered this dire sound problem, it sounded very much like a poor quality audio system turned up to full with maximum distortion ??? it was not even loud enough, you could here people talking around you whilst the band was playing, a rock band should be LOUD.

I did see Maiden way back in the early 80's at Nott'm Royal Concert hall, I was disappointed then and still am >

I did take a few photo's so when I find time and a new card reader(writing this from my new laptop!!) I will upload them to my photobucket album.

I have never seen Iron Maiden.
What I have seen though is a number of friends who over the years have seen them at different times.
Each one has said that they had come away from their particular gig feeling let down.

It's not just me then Bigdog, the most annoying thing is that you pay a good price to see these bands(?37.50 each plus booking fees), so you expect to get your money's worth, but get so let down and not entitled to any refunds, if you bought goods from a supermarket and they was not upto standards then you would get a full refund

im shocked, i heard when hey played leeds festival i think last year or the year before theywere awesome. i dont like trivium at all now when i found out that indeed matt heafy and corey didnt even do the solos for the albums. Therefore attempting to play guitar and not doing so is totally wrong as he was passing off the producers solo work. The nw album though i think is dire, matt plays his own solos which are boring and the tone is just a mess as they have stopped using good instruments.
Guitar playing, Gilmour loving, psychological, philosophical individual
