TOPIC: Deep Purple tour

Deep Purple tour 5 years, 2 months ago #1

Deep Purple have announced that they will be playing Machine Head in its entirety on their April tour. I might go to the Nottingham show.

I'm going to the Brighton gig should be good fun, Thin Lizzy are supporting as well.
Nick<br>Recently, the ghost of Ho Chi Minh was seen wandering the streets of downtown Saigon, and he was wearing a Pink Floyd t-shirt.

They were excellent at Wembley when I saw them just over two years ago.  Gillan's voice is still fantastic!

DEEP PURPLE 2007
Bournemouth - Friday 27th April.

Deep Purple were fantastic.... I have not seen this band since the 70's and they have not lost it at all. I was amazed at Gillan's voice (no tape dubbing like RW!). And as a replacement for Ritchie Blackmore, Steve Morse was pretty special. I was lucky to be at the front, so got right in the action. I managed to get a stage setlist at the end of the show and also one of Steve Morse's plectrums! (look out eBay). They didn't do the whole of Machine Head as we were led to believe. On stage from 9.30pm until 11.00pm (prompt) - the BIC has a strict 11.00 curfew!

Support Bands
Thin Lizzy
Styx

SET-LIST

Pictures Of Home
Things I Never Said
Into the Fire
Strange Kind of Woman
Rapture of the Deep
Fireball
Well Dressed Guitar (solo centerpiece from SM - brilliant)
When a Blind Man Cries
Lazy
The Battle Rages On
Space Truckin'
Highway Star
Smoke on the Water (of course!)

Hush
Black Night

A really good night and one of the best concerts I have been to for awhile. The band was very tight and Roger Glover and Steve Morse played well together. The Windsor Hall was packed and it's a shame Purple were only on for 90 minutes, but I guess they are getting a little ripe and 2 hours would be hard! The support from Thin Lizzy was good, but how can they really call themselves that? STYX were awful, so I left and went and bought a Pizza after the first number - 60 minutes of that nonsense would have been too much! They should have had a 40 minute set and DP could have been on for longer

What was the set-list Nick, was it the same as Bournemouth?
