Devil Went Down To Georgia

A couple of years ago I purchased a cd by Acoustic Unlimited called 'Guitars and Dreams'. I liked it very much and I resolved to go and see them play one day. Last night was the night.
A very respectable number of people, perhaps around 150, gathered at a pub near Nantwich and were treated to a marvellous evenings entertainment from a very talented group of musicains. The numbers present filled the venue just nicely, creating an intimate atmosphere that seemed just right. I went to the gig by myself but I wasn't 'Billy no mates' for long as Mike Kidson introduced me to some friends he had brought along and we all ended up sharing a table with a real 'A' List celebrity, none other than our very own administrator Nick, and his charming wife Averil.
The genre was a blend of flaminco/folk/jazz in what I found to be a nicely rounded setlist. Particularly enjoyable, I thought, was Devil Went Down To Georgia as an encore (with all 6 musicains playing on stage), and a very pleasing version of Wish You Were Here (played with 2 acoustic guitars, bass guitar, saxophone and violin).
The band clearly enjoyed playing last night, they seemed very relaxed and the audience was very appreciative. As Nick has said elsewhere "you missed an amazing show, they blew the barn doors off!"

Sounds like the kind of night that we'd all like to have on a regular basis.....of course I missed it.
                        Thanks Mike.

Here I go living on the wrong side of the pond again.....  >  I would have loved to see that.
Hanging on in quiet desperation.....

Sorry for the lack of a review from me, I'm busy giving the site a spring clean in time for the tour. Mike's excellent review has rendered mine superfluous anyway. It was one of the best nights I've been to in ages, and it's really great to see Mike K looking so well again.
