As some may know, I'm a big fan (huge!) of Martha Wainwright, who is the daughter of Loudon Wainwright III (Rufus is her brother). She is due to tour the UK and her second album is released 12th May.

I posted before re this, but the album has a cover of  'See Emily Play', which she sang with her mother at the Syd Barrett tribute gig in London. She also sang on Snow Patrols 'Eyes Open' album, on the track 'Set the Fire to the Third Bar'.

Martha appeared singing two live tracks on Jools last night.
A hugely talented lady, we both enjoyed her performance.
Watch the recorded and extended version of Later With Jools Holland on BBC Friday night, its the last one of the series I believe ?

Monday nights gig at the Royal Festival Hall was a rare treat - Martha's presence on stage is quite infectious, you feel like she's doing a gig for just a few people - she talks, cracks jokes and makes mistakes which she is able to capitalise on with her personality. Her talent I think is quite exceptional.

She did 'See Emily Play' together with Beth Orton, I was beside myself with glee as I sang along. It would have been nice if she had mentioned Syd, but the fact she performs it (and so well) is a great tribute.

Cheers Tim, I have just rang the Bridgewater hall box office in Manchester & got two third row seats for this Sunday and really looking forward to it. They tell me the support act is a guy called Tom Baxter, was he the support at your show on Monday and if so what was he like?
Are we nearly there yet?

No support at the Show on Monday, but it was originally billed as starting at 7.30pm, but a couple of weeks before, it changed to 8.00, so maybe they omitted a support?

I reckon the show maybe a little different, as she had 4 surprise guests (Beth being one), but who knows? If Manchester was not so far away, I would be going again - I just love her to bits. Very quirky, very talented and totally adorable (IMO).

I blagged a Set-List, so if you want to know what she played, I can post it here?
