TOPIC: Riverside

Riverside 3 years, 4 months ago #1

Skotch and Palliams gave Riverside a mention in What Are You Listening To a while back, but I thought they deserved a topic of their own.

A bit like Porcupine Tree, I like them a lot more, they come from Poland and have so far released 5 albums, including an early promo.

Spotify users can listen to their 2005 album, Second Life Syndrome.

Riverside - Official Site

Highly recommended.

For those interested, Riverside's new album Anno Domini High Definition is now avaliable for purchase. I can honestly say that this is brilliant, I'm holding back on how good I rate it as a prog album, as I have only listened to it a few times. But I do think it is there best album yet. They have progressed away from the 'trilogy', and have produced a heavy, energetic Prog album.
The Pink Floyd esque guitar solo's remain, but the synths are more relaxed (I personally think they go a bit OT on the 2nd and 3rd albums with the synths), giving way to lenghthly organ and piano sections. The acoustic guitar has also been removed. At times they sound like Metallica...
I recommend the CD/DVD special edition because the live concert DVD is simply stunning, and for £10.99 on amazon, I think it is a bargin.
