Just saw the Aussie's new promo graphic and press release. Amongst a few things about it that I find a bit sad and unimaginative, is how the artwork is so eerily similar (the circular branding over the main graphic) to the BritFloyd graphic.

At the end of the day I suppose both bands artwork is obviously based upon the work of Pink Floyd's original artists (Scarfe and Thorgerson), but considering how I created the BritFloyd's logo graphic (which has been online for well over a week now), it all seems to be a bit too much of a coincidence that the Aussies have now come up with a new logo of their own (published for the first time today on their website) which happens to so closely resemble the BritFloyd's logo...

Let’s play compare the press release! Brought to you by www.comparethepressrelease.com

Here are a couple of excerpts from the 2 recently posted press releases from BritFloyd and TAPFS respectively, which you can read on the home page of this forum or over at www.britfloyd.com and www.aussiefloyd.com

First of all here are 2 very similar paragraphs:

“'The British Pink Floyd Show' upcoming global tour, Pink Floyd Greatest Hits World Tour 2011, will showcase the biggest and most spectacular Floyd tribute of all time. Two and a half hours of the absolute best of Floyd live in the sort of spectacularly, ostentatious setting that all true Floyd fans will relish.”

“Their upcoming Pink Floyd’s Greatest Hits World Tour 2011 showcases the most spectacular Floyd tribute of all time. With over two hours of the absolute best of Floyd live, it is the sort of spectacularly ostentatious setting that all true Floyd fans will relish.”

Or you could compare the following sentences.

“BRIT FLOYD takes the Pink Floyd tribute experience to a brand new level.”

“The Australian Pink Floyd Show takes the Pink Floyd tribute experience to a new level.”

Or you could consider the striking similarity between the new logos at the top of each release.

Finally one can be made aware of the fact that the BritFloyd excerpts can be found in a number of press releases that have been circulated over the last few weeks, whereas the TAPFS release, containing the relevant excerpts, came out just yesterday.

It all makes one consider the concept of a tribute of a tribute and which way round that that could be applied in this case. It also could make one consider behind which Floyd tribute show does the real imagination & creativity lie and where the real driving force and fresh ideas are to be found.

I didn't realize that fresh ideas was the main concern with these bands, I thought
they were suppose to take ideas already created by legends and duplicate them to the best of their abilities.....including logos and advertising, lighting, effects and ultimately sound.

First off I want to commend you on the TBPFS Logo which I think is fantastic.......
and agree with you about the taps logo but is there any reason they should drastically change their logo, afterall they already have the name and the logo to go with it...I think they probably feel you copied theirs...

I must be missing something.  Looks like the same Aussie Floyd logo that I first saw in 2004.  What's different about it?  I mean you'd certainly know better than I!!!

I went over to BritFloyd and looked at the new graphic.  Nice work.  I like it.

So in other words,  are you saying that if it is unimaginative now then it must have been back in 2004 when CMP probably came up with that logo?

In anycase I love the new TBPFS logo too , bk1 great job!
