As some of you may be aware, there is a Guinness World Record for visiting all 275 stations on the London Underground in the fastest time, using only public transport (tubes, trains, buses, trams - NO cars, taxis, bikes etc.)

Between the 5th of May 2004 and the 30th of May 2006 this record was held by Geoff Marshall and Neil Blake (you may have heard of him).  Their time was 18 hours, 35 minutes and 43 seconds, beating the previous record by some margin.

In May 2006 the record was lowered by FIVE seconds by two students called Sam and Steve.  Yesterday it was beaten again, this time by two Swedish men called Hakan and Lars.  The new record is now 18 hours, 15 minutes and 3 seconds, but has yet to be confirmed by Guinness.

Anyone reckon they can do better?

More to the point Neil-can you do any better. Why not try it again but this time sponsored for a charity.
Are we nearly there yet?

I don't think I can be bothered.  It's a very demanding thing to try to do and takes up so much of your time beforehand with all the planning.

And winter's coming - I don't fancy it in those conditions.

Is there only one 'route' that is generally accepted by those that compete as being the optimum for speed? Or were the three examples that you sited accomplished by different routes?

All different routes.

The chances of two people having exactly the same route are slim, even though a lot of "sections" are done the same way by most people.

The day I've got tomorrow, I might break the record by accident. I'll be kicking off at St Pancras at about 8:30.
