I was sad to read today that Allen Carr, author of 'The Easyway To Stop Smoking', has passed away. It may be seen as ironic that he died from lung cancer given that he quit smoking 23 years ago and dedicated his life to helping others to quit also. Before he passed away he said that he hoped his illness would encourage more smokers to quit. I was a heavy smoker for over 30 years and tried unsuccessfully for the last 10 of those years to quit until a friend told me about his book. That was 6 years ago and after reading his book it was as though a switch had been turned off in my head and I know I will never smoke again. I am posting this for no other reason than to ask has anyone else used his method.

It's a dirty discusting habit that thankfully, I never started.

It is very dirty and very disgusting but... I used to smoke. I decided one day, September 4th 2004 9pm to be precise, to give it up.
I did and have not touched a cigarette since. I did it by will power alone, I guess I managed it because I wanted to do it and not because someone else was telling me that I had to.

I have recently given up...and i'm doing great ! will power alone, but bloody hard work! going to suceed though, i'm determined  ;D
