We sometimes 'talk photography' on this forum so I feel justified in posting this. It may prove useful to others.

A few weeks ago my Nikon Coolpix 5700 developed (no pun intended) a fault. I asked around to try and find a reputable and  trustworthy repairer and eventually settled on a company in Southborough, Kent. They are an independent and they have their own workshop facilities on site.

As it turned out they couldn't effect a repair themselves and they had to send the camera off to Nikon. Nikon repaired the camera, free of charge as it turned out, and it was returned to me via the company in Kent. They charged me a modest handling fee for postage and administration.

The point is that I would recommend this firm to anyone who was in need of camera services. They were courteous and efficient. They kept me in touch with what was going on. Telephone calls were made and returned exactly when they said they would be. Above all, they were honest. As I said, Nikon made no charge for the repair, but I wasn't to know that. The Kent firm could easily have fabricated a bill and I would have paid it being none the wiser.

I won't post this firm's details here as I recall there has been discussion in the past about 'advertising' on the forum. If anyone is interested send me a PM. However, if Nick or H-C give me the OK, then I'll post the name and address openly.

By the way, this company operate a postal repair service, so they are accessible from anywhere.

Nice one Mike, see my PM. It's great when you find a business run like that.
Are we nearly there yet?

Sounds like you got a dam good service there Mike , unlike when my Minolta F100 developed a settings memory and macro fault.

The camera went back to Minolta TWICE, under guarantee I may add, and returned on both occasions with exactly the same faults >. I phoned up Minolta to find out exactly what they had done to the camera and all they would say is that they 'serviced' it, not repaired it. This little camera was great for off the cuff photos, great colour and pin sharp images, infact all of my Aussie Floyd photos are taken with it.

I still us the camera on the odd occasion but have now given it my Dad for him to enjoy, he knows the faults it has and is happy with that.

Now got myself a Fuji Finepix F30, and still getting used to its set-up.
