Well I can't put it off any longer so I'm off to do my Christmas shopping. AAAAaaarrrrggggghhhh. >

I am the worlds worst shopper and I will go to the Trafford Center which has hundreds of shops and every conceivable present you could possibly want and I will still be walking round hours later without a single clue what to buy. I hate Christmas

I hate Christmas too.

I have a "no-presents" policy for most of the year - I don't buy people anniversary presents, Mothers' and Fathers' Days are pointless, as is Valentines.

Only a select few receive birthday presents but Christmas is the real problem.  Save yourself the hassle - don't buy anyone anything!  They're all materialistic, money-grabbing leeches anyway (that's what I tell myself).

And if someone is going to dislike you because you didn't buy them something, then the world is going to hell in a handcart.

Humbug!

You've not met Mrs.fossil then? >

Neil I would happily never give or receive another present ever again but....see above.
She doesn't like me as it is so I'm not going to start giving her reasons

Exactly - people expect.

And for some reason, we're seen as bad if we don't give presents to people.  Not because we come across an uncaring scroungers, but because people suffer hurt egos if they don't receive material objects from their family and friends.

I plan to buy Christmas presents for four people this year, and three of them are in my immediate family.  The rest can whistle.

Ah Neil I've obviously not explained myself correctly, the only person I buy a present for is Mrs.fossil. That is my one and only duty for Christmas and she does everything else. It costs me a fortune to leave it all to her but that is money well spent in my opinion. I can't put it off any longer so I'm off to the Trafford Center, thanks for reminding me about the traffic Daz
