PLEASE QUIT SMOKING

TOPIC: PLEASE QUIT SMOKING

PLEASE QUIT SMOKING 5 years, 5 months ago #1

I am begging all of you out there who smoke.... please quit.

My dad died tonight, after a short battle with lung cancer.  He has been a smoker since 15 years of age and smoked for 30 years before he quit.  Although he quit 20 years ago, the damage was done.  He developed a slow growing form of lung cancer that reared it's ugly head 2 months ago.  Although my dad was 72 and lived a good life... he could have lived a longer life had he never smoked.

Two weeks, my cousin died of lung cancer, 51 years of age.  She smoked right up to her diagnosis... and she died 2 months after diagnosis.

This is such an unneccesary way to die.  Please butt out before it's too late.

So sorry to read about your loss. My condolences to you and your family.

I never picked up smoking even though both my parents smoked until I was in my late teens. It is a dirty discusting habit.
Hanging on in quiet desperation.....

I'm so very sorry for your loss. Your message is a good one and I hope people pay attention although at the end of the day it's their choice.
I gave up the filthy habit just over 2 years ago and I'm so glad I did. I do feel much better for it and my mind is also healthier for giving up.
Hello and thanks for having me.

My condolances go out to you and your family as well Rob, there is never a "good" time for things like this to happen but it is especially worse at this time of year.

I hope that your message prompts anyone thinking about giving up smoking to make it a resolution for the New Year.

I am very sad to hear this news Rob. The message you send out is a good one and I hope it will encourage others to quit. I stopped 7 years ago and wish I had never started in the first place.
Are we nearly there yet?
