I only have around 30-40 pieces of vinyl (mainly Floyd & Zeppelin), I foolishly sold off the rest back in the early 90's.
Personally, I prefer CD's as they are far more convenient and as I only have a 'budget' Turntable they so sound much better on my system.
You don't have to get up every 23 minutes to play the other side.
I no longer buy vinyl, my turntable is there just to occasionaly play what I still have. I know a couple of people who have amazing systems (turntables costing over ?1,500) and purchase heavyweight 'audiophile' pressings. A very good, correctly set up turntable can sound better than CD, but there are so many factors like the quality of the pressing, turntable setup and the album itself. Some albums just sound better on CD, others on vinyl.
The presentation of the sound is different, it is more organic, as it has not been sampled, there is the potential fo vinyl to sound better than cd as there is essentially an infinite sample rate with no cut off at the frequency extremes.
It boils down to personal taste as to which is best, as the presentations can be so different, the important thing is that you should end up listening to the music, not the hifi.
I love the drama of vinyl, it is a pleasurable experience looking at the gatefold sleeve, slitting the black plastic shrinkwrap on WYWH with a blade to keep it in place

.
You certainly get a far bigger bang for your buck with CD, but a turntable is a very nice thing indeed, and a correctly set up one is magical.
