TOPIC: Barclaycard

Barclaycard 4 years, 11 months ago #1

Rant coming up .....

I made an online purchase using my Barclaycard today. All was well until I received an email from the supplier saying the transaction had been declined. 30 minutes later they answered the phone and told me it had been stopped by the fraud department. On hold again. They told me that a flag had already been placed on my account because of a transaction earlier this month that looked suspicious.

I can't blame them for being careful, but the "suspicious" transaction was a regular monthly payment that was identical to all the previous ones for the last 3 years. The supplier they declined today was one I regularly deal with and pay with my Barclaycard.

F*****g idiots. I complained and they gave me ?25.

Good rant Nick. Maybe we should have a special thread for rants!

Nick,

I'm VERY grateful to Barclays fraud team, as you probably know I was a victim of card fraud earlier this year, ?1400 was nicked out of my account and they spotted it and phoned me at work, but the transaction still went through.  I had 2 weeks of filling in form and so on the get MY money back, but this team were very helpful.

I'm just glad that someone is watching what is going out of our bank accounts, specially with Internet purchases.

I now have an identity protection policy that can help you sort out any problems and cover you for any loss and also clear your name if anything does happen, which is critical.

Remember, its not only money they nick, but can take out loans in you name and mortgages, the only time you know about it is when the bailiffs come knocking because on none payment.

I do feel for you as your problem was with a regular payment, which should not happen.

I'm grateful for their diligence too. What hacked me off is that they identified two transactions as potentially fraudulent, one which was about the 40th regular payment of a monthly subscription, the other a purchase from a company I regularly deal with.
