Note: this is not intended as a political thread or as a means to attack the Labour party (before certain people assume it is ).

So it's goodbye to Mr Blair after ten years in the job. He's due at the Palace in about 20 minutes to resign as PM.

Your thoughts on the last ten years?
Be very very careful what you put into that head, because you will never ever get it out. Thomas Cardinal Wolsey (1471-1530)

Better than the abject misery caused by 18 years of a conservative government.
Some folk may choose to have an edited memory of those years of the "Greed Is Good" mentality. I wont forget the years of 15% mortgage rates. The unemployment and I certainly wont forget the years of only having the best of hospital treatment if you had money to pay for private care, over a year in pain on a waiting list if you were poor.............how many more examples do you need of things improving for ordinary working people under a Blair led government ?
I'm not any kind of a political activist. There is always something to complain about regardless of who is in power.

There is a lot he stood for that I agreed with and a lot that I disagreed with. My feelings are that he was a Prime Minister who believed that what he did was right and I think at the end of the day he was an honest man. I know what Steve is saying about the Maggie Thatcher era and again there was good and bad. I also believe she was an honest Prime Minister. Whatever my views and opinions have been over the last decades I have always believed that any government needs a strong opposition to keep it in check and I would not want to change the way our country governs itself for any other model. I feel we are in a better position now than we were 40 years ago so we must be heading in the right direction if a little slowly sometimes, although that's not always a bad thing.

I agree with fossil that some ideas are good and some are bad but in a nutshell all politicians see to their own first and us 'normal' peeps get the leftovers. So it makes no odds to me who is in charge, I'm still gonna be struggling to pay the bills and keep the kids fed and clothed and I will never be in a position to just spend spend spend !!!
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is mystery, today is a gift thats why it is called present...

s56.photobucket.com/albums/g163/mommapin...PFS%20Dudley%202007/

If you remember quite a while ago when you were trying to introduce more serious topics and I said at the time that there would not be a great interest in them, perhaps I was right. Anyway, you have not joined in these more serious topics much youself so....over to you.
