TOPIC: Anti-social behaviour

Anti-social behaviour 4 years, 9 months ago #1

While we all ponder on larry?s possible pending post, work wise I thought I might update you on my employment escapades.
Some of you will remember that last year I managed to escape from British Gas, after 38 years, (I know, scary, isn't it) with a nice redundancy & early retirement package & I was convinced that I was suited to taking it easy at last but after 4 months I realised that all this spare time was a bit too good to be true so I got a job as a housing estate officer for the local council on a job share basis, 18 hours per week. What attracted me to the post was the fact that I would be challenging anti social behaviour on some of our local run down estates, estates like the one that I grew up on. The job is difficult and rewarding but my biggest problem was that, working as a job share, I never felt as though I had full control of situations as they arose & therefore couldn't give the victim the best support they needed.
I was recently offered a full time post by my manager, which I have accepted & start next Tuesday, after the bank holiday. It is a big step to go from semi-retired back to full time employment but I know I can be much more effective if I can see the whole picture of what is going on as opposed to seeing what happens during the half a week that I work at present. I am looking forward to giving the local scrotes an even harder time than they are used to.
Are we nearly there yet?

Congratulations on the job front, Phil.  Does this mean we will be subjected to fewer quality posts from now on?  ;D

Surely we'll be subjected to fewer pikeys ...
Be very very careful what you put into that head, because you will never ever get it out. Thomas Cardinal Wolsey (1471-1530)

Well done Phil ! hope things go well for you.
Don't know whether I mentioned his before but my old man was retired from British Gas after 37 years when he was 53. He's not looked back since and doesn't know how he found he time to work before - all lhe running about chasing grandparents out and playing gold etc.

Hope you manage to sort the scroats out !
