TOPIC: Ultimate icon award

Ultimate icon award 4 years, 7 months ago #1

Terry Wogan has won the BBC ultimate icon of the last 40 years award, ahead of The Beatles and Nelson Mandela. It's time to turn the lights off and leave the planet. How the f**k can people put a failed sodding bank clerk ahead of the most infuential man of the last century in any respect whatsoever? This is the best argument for dictatorships I've seen in a long time, because we're obviously far too stupid to live in a democracy. We're a nation of bloody Sun readers.

Scary innit?
Be very very careful what you put into that head, because you will never ever get it out. Thomas Cardinal Wolsey (1471-1530)

Wtf is Terry Wogan?  He may be a British icon, but he has no recognition over here.  I'd put Paul McCartny, John Lennon, Queen Elizabeth, Maggie Thatcher, Benny Hill, Michael Palin, John Cleese, Eric Idle, any other Python or Beatle, Mick Jagger, any Rolling Stone, any Royal, any Prime Minister, those two Scottish fellas with their home redecoration show, or even Beckham before Terry Wogan (just because I've never heard of him)!  But maybe that's the point....

I'll need to Wikipedia Wogan.  Did they even make a Spitting Image puppet out of him?!!!

This poll was trailed remorselessly on Radio 2. As this Irish idiot has a cult following of deranged fans obviously they were the only people who bothered to vote.
Don't let the result bother you too much, after all it will all be forgoten by tomorrow.
