I received a text message on my mobile phone today.

The phone bleeped. I said OK, I'll read the message, but I was confronted with a statement saying that the message could not be displayed.

The phone number that was displayed started with +38165.....

I know I'm not the sharpest tool in the box when it comes to matters re: modern technology, but it's bugging me - I don't like mysteries!!!!

Anyone got a clue what's occuring please?  ??? ??? ???

I had a similar thing years back. I think at the time I had a Motorola phone and it seemed to have a problem displaying certain characters in an SMS that might have been available on other brands of phones. It might not be this as like I said it was a few years ago and it was an occasional thing

The +381 indicated that the message came from Serbia - does that help you identify the sender ? Igor your long lost cousin maybe ?

It might even be a scam. In our local paper there was a warning about a scam whereby somebody phones you claiming to be an engineer for your network provider and that you should dial a combination of hashes and numbers to a certain number. What this does (apparently) is to rob you of your credit or make phone calls at your expense.
