One or two of you may have noticed over the course of the last view months that I have hinted slightly (sic) that I don't think much of Windows Vista ?
My latest battle with this prematurely released experiment has occurred this morning.
I turned my computer on this morning at 8-50am its now 1-45 pm. Ive just managed to get on line. The reason for this unacceptable delay? A vista update started to load while I was booting up.
Thank you Microsoft, you knackered my start up program. I seriously considered opening the window of the upstairs room I'm in and chucking this bloody computer out through it.
My  message to all is simple. Don't bother with Vista yet,its still a work in progress and has a long way to go before its worth  having.
Does anybody have a second hand laptop with XP on it for sale ? >

I couldn't agree less. I've got 2 PC's with Vista on and they've both been as solid as a rock since the day it was installed. The user interface is spectacular, the file organisation and search are way ahead of XP, the media centre is superb and the multimedia features are excellent. It has finally put PCs on a par with the Mac for user experience. As for it being an experiment, Vista underwent the most extensive beta programme of any software product in history.

Don't try putting it on an old machine. The device driver support will be poor and it won't have the horsepower to run it properly. You wouldn't stick a V8 in a Cortina, would you?

If it misbehaves to the extent of trashing your PC, there is something seriously amiss with the installation, the driver support or the hardware compatibility.

Its a brand new computer that came with Vista pre-installed.
I don't share your enthusiasm. I can quite happily agree to disagree and leave it at that  ;D

Can't we have an argument instead?

Apparently there is a service pack 1 coming out soon for Vista, hopefully this will cure some of the problems that have haunted some users.

I'm still running my computers on XP , and have no problems with it.

PS I have used Vista on a laptop but what drives me crazy is all the stupid pop-up boxes that are totally unnecessary.
