Hi All,

Had a problem with our CX3200 printer/scanner/copier, it refused to print and said on the display 'Parts in this printer are no longer serviceable' >

So I had a search around the Internet and found that this was a common problem and you can fix the problem quite easily yourself, so set about doing so.

First you have to remove the waste ink pads, this involves taking the printer apart and gain access to the pads, which hide in the bottom of the printer at the back. This job is VERY messy and latex gloves are a must as the pads are FULL of ink , we did this job inside our shed as any spilt ink will stain, with the three pads removed we put them in a carrier bag and started to rinse them out in the kitchen sink(stainless steel), again make sure you cover the area around the sink with newspaper as the ink can splash up and stain anything it comes into contact with.

Rinse the pads out thoroughly with running cold water, then once they are clean dry them out with kitchen roll, we also used a hairdryer to help dry them out more quickly.

Once they are dry fit them back into the printer, in the order they came out in (bottom pad is slightly different to the other 2), you will need to push them down gently with a flat headed screwdriver, re-assemble the printer and plug back into the mains and your PC, you will still get the error on the display.

The get ride of the error you need to download a small program called sscservehttp://inkjetprinterhelp.us/epsonSSC.html , after downloading run the program, you need to reset the printer counter and after doing this turn the printer off and then back on again, and that's it, you have a working printer again and saved yourself some cash.

This job took us around 1 hour to complete and is well worth it, I wonder how many printers have ended up on the local tip because of this error. ???

I have the same printer and it's crap.
I changed the black and colour cartridges last week because it wasn't printing very well and now all it does is colour photocopy and scan.
Stupid thing.
Hello and thanks for having me.

Now he tells me just 5 days after I replaced my CX3200

Having said that, it was a different fault. Good on you for fixing it but I personally would have not gone that trouble. I have had my CX3200 for quite a few years and it ran without a hitch until last week. The replacement EpsonCX4500 was so cheap I was happy to replace the original one and I can guarantee that if I had attempted a repair then I would be now in the process of replacing something expensive that the ink somehow had managed to get on.
Are we nearly there yet?

I'll get a new one too Phil. I couldn't be arsed with trying to fiddle with the one I have. Fair play to you Leaat, you have more patience than I do!
In the meantime, I'll just pester Neil when I need something printing

Until my DX7450 develops the same problem ...

The CX3200 is my Dad's printer that we got him for Christmas around 3 years ago, he is a pensioner and cannot afford to go running out and buy a new one, so this fix was worth it in his case.  This printer has worked just fine for the last 3 years, he does use VERY cheap cartridges off E-Bay and has had no trouble with them

Apparently Epson have built this little beauty into ALL it's printers for the past 3 years or so > and if you cannot afford to go out and buy a new printer then this can be a real pain in the butt.  I'm just waiting for my R300 to do the same trick now, although you can fix it with the same method .  The R360 I have has no fix yet. >
