I was driving last night right down by the ocean and looked across a cloudless sky...it was 6:30pm. The full and perfect lunar eclipse was about 1/3 through. I stopped and waited for about 1/2 hr and played DSoTM while the moon turned a dull orange and passed through the shadow of the earth. It was stunning. A perfect view in a cloudless sky, which is pretty amazing since it seems to have been raining for months! Loads of people taking pictures and enjoying the view. The following photos are NOT mine but are exactly what I saw!

Great stuff Bob. Most of us in the UK missed it behind cloud following about a week of clear skies.
Are we nearly there yet?

Good stuff Bob, I've seen a few lunar eclipses and they're pretty spectacular - I love the orange glow you tend to get. I was also fortunate enough to get a perfect clear view of the solar eclipse we had here back in 1999 (I think), now that was something very special.

Guess who got up at 3am this morning after hearing on the news that there was to be a lunar eclipse ? When "he" got up and looked out of the window the moon was not where it was supposed to be ? It was hidden behind thick cloud. It took "him" ages to get back to sleep because "he" felt so foolish ?
Then at 6-30 this morning there was a perfect full moon glowing over the hill  on the other side of the valley in which he lives. Sod's law again !!

I caught a glimpse myself at about 8pm last night.

Don't worry Steve, there will be another one in 2010.
Hanging on in quiet desperation.....
