All I know is that they estimate that every fifth male visitor is dead within 80 years of glancing at the mask of Tutankhamen
Are we nearly there yet?

Within 80 years, Ill be lucky to make another 40

I've just been reading a few unbiased reviews, seems like this trip could be one big mistake as King Tut's mask is not on display >(apparently it's too fragile to travel from Egypt) and the other artifacts are very small and insignificant, oh well it will be a day out and a trip to the O2 to see what all the fuss is about.

Hi
Both Martin & myself were lucky enough to go to Egypt in 2000. It was the outlaws ruby wedding & they asked where we would go if it was ours, next thing after Martin had said Egypt they paid for tickets for us to go with them. This at the time was my worst nightmare, how could anyone spend a holiday looking at old relics. Oh my god, it was out of this world a week on the Nile doing the cruise went to Abu Simbel & Cairo , then a week in Luxor. Absolutely brilliant if it hadn't been for the outlaws ah well you can't have everything.
This year I was 50 so the grown up children paid for Martin & I to go to London to see the Tutankhamun exhibition & also the Terracotta soldiers. We did lots of other things as well at the time including going to see "Wicked".
After seeing the real thing in Egypt I have got to say that I was disappointed with the exhibition in London, no photos is correct but if you go to Egypt there a lots of things you can't take photos off because of the damage the flash would cause etc. If I remember rightly you got about an hour to look round in London but for us was plenty.

I was in Cairo in January. The museum of antiquities is the most wonderful of places. The gold death mask is housed in a glass case which you can stand next to. To be 6 inches away from that great work of craftsmanship is a sheer joy (did you know he's got a ponytail?) A few of the exhibition cabinets had cards inside them saying "on display in London ." From what I could gather it consisted mostly of smaller pieces.
If you don't mind having a Tourist Police guard carrying a machine gun ! Then,if you can, go to Egypt.

When we went in 2000 the world was a much safer place we only had armed guards at Hatshepsut & Dendara which at the time was quite frightening. If you ever get the chance you must do the Nile cruise it's brilliant & wouldn't have missed it for anything.
