Fantastic result at Monaco today! Well done

Re: Well done Lewis! 4 years ago #2

Yep he drove a blinder. His 'sector 1' times in the middle stint were amazing!
Lewis has raced at Monaco 5 times. Twice in Formula 3 in 2005, once in GP2 in 2006 and the last 2 F1 GPs. He finished 2nd to Alonso last year, all the others races he has won. Four 1sts, one 2nd.

It is generally accepted that to gauge how good a driver is, how does he perform on street tracks, especially in the rain. Lewis came of age today, despite the early brush with the barrier. Very impressive whereas world champion Kimi Raikkonen was a right plonker from the start.

I'll be starting a Lewis 2008 Monaco picture very soon I think!

I was a bit annoyed with Raikkonen myself.  I hope he went to the Force India garage afterwards ...
Be very very careful what you put into that head, because you will never ever get it out. Thomas Cardinal Wolsey (1471-1530)

Raikkonen seemed to be a bit ragged throughout the race I thought. Coulthard unlucky again too.

The only unlucky bit DC had was not being able to continue. He dropped the ball, plain & simple but in too big a way, he should know better having been in F1 since 1994, whereas Lewis just got away with it. DC does seem to have a lot of bad luck mind, but a lot of incidents are his fault.

With only 18 seats out there in F1 it's way beyond time for him to go and do sportscars or NASCAR or something...along with Fisichella, Barrichello & Trulli. There is so much fresh, quick young blood knocking on F1's door, the old guard 'journeymen' should move on in my view.

Nice to see the Senna name back on the Monaco podium too, as Ayrton's nephew Bruno won the GP2 race in great style on Friday.

Further to my post just now, you do have to have luck on your side too. I've just heard, Lewis's car had a puncture when it came in at the end of the race, probably from debris from Nico's shunt. Would he have completed another lap if Nico's shunt had been a lap earlier?

...but everyone knows 'IF' is 'F1' backwards.
