Yay! we've bought ourselves some wheels!  Yesterday I bought some roller boots and today Neil bought some inline skates. Great way to get some exercise and have a good laugh, especially when one of us falls over for the first time.  Because we're all old and responsible we've also bought the protective stuff too, helmet, (I said helmet) wrist pads & knee pads. I didn't have any of this stuff when I was a kid but then I didn't care when I was young - no fear.

I had a quick go in Battersea park yesterday

Looking quite unsteady here and on many occasions after this too.

Neil like a spoilt kid being made to wear all the protective stuff.

And having never really rollerskated/rollerbladed before I've surprised myself by being able to skate the entire length of our flat without falling over after about 30 minutes of messing about (except right at the start when I tried to be clever).

And did you also know that "Rollerblade" is, in fact, a brand name and that the correct term for these things is inline skates.  It's the same principle as Hoover and vacuum cleaner.

I don't know if Lorna will be joining me in some lessons in Hyde Park later this year but I think I'm going to sign up for some at some point.  Then I'll be able to join in one of those mass skates around London that come down our road from time to time.

My only problem with your pictures Neil is that the resolution is not high enough to zoom in on your book case so I can see what CD's you have in there, and what you are reading!  ;D

It's all Engelbert Humperdinck and Demis Roussos.

Hi Neil and Lorna,

I see you are Stephen King fans. Me too. I was just telling Bob that one time, when I was a kid, I remember my aunt Carol giving me a spanking for roller-skating on her hardwood floor. Bob says if I roller skate on our hardwood floors, he might do the same Naughty, naughty!!!
