Warning - Larry has a rant in the following post:
One thing that irritates me about ITV's coverage is that they are shamelessly pro-Hamilton. The thing that particularly irked me was when Hamilton dropped back and Piquet was leading. At no stage was any mention made of Piquet maybe winning the race. It was simply assumed that Hamilton would take Massa and Piquet and proceed to win. Now, obviously I knew he would probably pass both of them, but that's not the point. Allen and Brundle's commentary made it clear that they could not contemplate anything other than a Lewis victory.
Now don't make the mistake of thinking I'm anti-Hamilton. I'm simply against the ridiculous imbalance we now have in the pre-race coverage. I recorded the race today and watched it after we got back from doing the shopping. The first thing I did was fast forward past all of the pre-race stuff and straight to the countdown on the grid. There's only so much of Mark Blundell trotting out the same old tired lines about how he thinks the race will go that I can take.
I am, to be honest, now heartily fed up with ITV's coverage of F1 this year. Did we really need an "in-depth feature" about how Lewis Hamilton won the British Grand Prix? (he drove faster than everyone else - that's my theory). Do we have to have an interview with him every bloody race? As I mentioned in a previous thread, we have 19 other drivers in the field, but no - all we get is the same corporate bollocks that he's paid to spout to Steve Ryder every weekend.
And when is Louise Goodman going to just get it over with and shag Jenson Button? She quite clearly wants him. Roll on the BBC. At least then we'll lose that gobshite James Allen.
Rant over. Carry on.
