On the 29th of September I am due to take my final rules exam as part of my passing out week.

For the next three weeks I'll be driving trains and getting more practice in before I'm assessed for competency.

So I should be all passed out and be allowed to drive on my own by Monday the 6th of October.  Scary huh?

You shouldn't drive a train while you're passed out. Can you listen to your iPod while you're driving?

Sadly not as I wouldn't be able to hear the in-cab warning systems.

Funnily enough there was once a plan to install CD players in the cabs of our trains.  And it would have gone ahead if the union hadn't insisted that the company provide CDs for the drivers to listen to instead of letting them bring their own CDs in.

And because of that the idea was thrown out.

I bet that makes you smile when you see your union dues deducted each month from your pay packet. Good luck on the 29th of Sept. which is my wedding anniversary by coincidence, always been a lucky day for me.....
If I keep saying it I might one day believe it.
Are we nearly there yet?

Good luck Neil. Is there anything we can do to help?  ;D

I'm struggling to find a way in which you could help me pass the exam, unless any of you know an easy way for me to remember everything in the rulebook.
