Sorry to use the 'R' word, has it affected any of us yet? Eveytime we switch the news on, read the papers, it's not good news.
In the world I indirectly work in, motor racing, everyone is nervous, sh****ng themselves.
For example, F1 Williams team main sponsor RBS is now near enough government owned. They will demand cutbacks and word is many car manufacturers are in deep doo doo, falling sales and low stocks. Rumours of at least 2 F1 teams being out of business before the winter is out.
Below this, countless racing teams at F2, F3 level, touring cars, sports cars, bike racing, drag racing, rallying etc etc that employ thousands of people are in for a very hard slog to attract drivers who actually have any sponsorship. What company is going to commit to any sports sponsorship in the coming months?
Apart from the banning of all motorsport in 1939, this is, I think, the biggest crisis the sport has faced in it's history. It's going to be a bumpy ride. It could decimate the UK's important motor sport industry.
So anyone else affected yet or can see it doing so?
