With Lewis Hamilton poised to become the youngest ever F1 World Champion, another highly rated youngster has grabbed the attention of everyone in the UK motor racing scene this year.
Wayne Boyd is managed by the TAPFS agent and CMP boss Chas Cole.
17 year old Wayne from Ulster dominated the 2008 British Formula Ford Championship.
Yesterday he won the prestigious Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch, beating the world's best in the catagory and in a recent test won a scolarship that guarantees him a fully paid drive with a Formula Renault team for 2009 as he steps up the ladder for next year. However if funding can be found, Formula 3, a step higher than Renault is the preferred choice. Having seen him drive, I think he is more than ready to tackle F3 and challenge for race wins.
Chas must have been doubly-delighted yesterday as his own son James, Wayne's team mate, finished a very creditable 6th at Brands Hatch. A long way off but will we be watching Wayne in Formula One in 4-5 years time? An exciting prospect, well done to all.
