They are a pain in the arse. Recently, my other half changed her house insurance. It's her house, her mortgage, she pays the utility bills and council tax. I contribute of course, I'm on the electoral role there, but do not have any of those bills in my name or pay any of her bills directly.
Whilst she was on the phone changing this insurance, she was asked if anyone else lives in the house and she gave them my name. Fair enough.
However, what made me really mad was the question 'have I ever been refused insurance!' WTF has that got to do with anything? I don't pay the bill, it's not my insurance policy or house. And no, I have never been refused.
Why on earth do they need to know this? Whenever I check into a hotel, I'm never asked 'have I been refused insurance', as it might affect the hotel's cover? Not that I treat home like a hotel mind before anyone asks...I just don't get why they need to know this and what it has to do with anything!
