So the pilot and copilot of the American Airlines plane that was forced to ditch in the Hudson river yesterday were ONLY doing their job as they have been trained to do it.
What skill and what professionalism. These men deserve immense gratitude for what they achieved yesterday under the most extreme of circumstances. An aircraft down in freezing water and no fatalities ? Fantastic.
Just look at the way the New York emergency services responded with such speed and efficiency too. Applause all round for a job well done.
At long last, something for us all to be proud of ?

Ditto.

Incredible. I've just watched a simulation of the entire flight. With his engine on fire, and power failing he banked hard left to line up with the river, had to avoid another plane and land it on the water so precisely that it didn't break up. All with only a few seconds to work out his strategy. What a brilliant bloke.

Yeah I couldn't agree more about the pilot and crew.

I was watching CNN yesteday and they were doing fine until they ran out of things to repeat and repeat. So they brought in a psychologist guy to detail all the effects that going through this type of trauma might have on an individual..... they get so over datailed it drives me crazy.

CNN = Crisis News Network.  ;D

BBC 6 o'clock news interviewed an ex BA pilot tonight and he could not praise this pilot enough, he also said that most pilots never have to use the brace message in their entire career, let alone land an aircraft on water .  This pilot and co pilot deserve the highest accolade available for saving 155 lives so professionally, but on the other had if it had gone disasterously wrong the pilot would have got the blame for trying to ditch on a river.

It said the pilot was very experienced and remained calm throughout. He may say he was only doing his job but I take my hat off to that man. None of us know how we would have reacted in the same situation but there is no doubt that his actions saved the lives of everyone on board his plane.
Are we nearly there yet?
