The Nottingham area was a complete mess this morning, we had around 4-5 inches of snow in around 3 hours and this caused mayhem as none of the roads had been gritted, even the M1 and A52 were not gritted. It took me an hour to cover just 7 miles. >

What really bugged me this morning was some of the other drivers that had no idea how to drive in these conditions, they spin their wheels wildly when trying to pull away and don't even think of changing to second or even 3rd gear to pull off. They use their brakes to heavily, causing the wheels to lock up and resulting in a skid which then results in the driver panicking even more, even with ABS you will struggle, use your gears/clutch for braking it is more effective when done correctly, and don't get to close to the car in front , especially down hill, because if you do enter a slide you will need time and room to correct it.

I did see several bumps this morning in just a seven mile run, Ill bet the insurance companies are rubbing their hand together.

I'm lucky as my car is four wheel drive, and that's fine for pulling away and staying in a straight line, but I still have to stop the car and I don't have ABS, but have not had any problems driving in these conditions.

Bloody horrible here in Dorset today. We decided to close the office at 1215 today and head home. I live 8.5 miles from work and it's around a 20 minute journey normally - took me 2 hours 10 mins today! That's some sort of record for me and I just could not believe how dim some people are when driving in poor conditions  :

We've been very lucky here in south Norfolk. We had about half an inch of snow on Monday which had gone by mid afternoon and a heavy snowfall Friday morning, for about 30 mins which settled to about 2 inches, but melted as quickly as it came! Looking outside at 7.40am now and no frost either despite reports it would be -7 in the west of the Anglia region.

But back to topic, there are some bloody idiots who have no idea how to drive...or how to drive in the snow. In those conditions it should be smooth driving, no hard braking. I love it though, great fun if no other cars are around.

As I often say during times like this:

Its not the roads that are generally dangerous, its the idiots driving on them
Artificial Intelligence usually beats real stupidity

Speaking on behalf of the idiots, I'd have to agree.  ;D

Just who are these fools who keep braking hard while driving on snow?
