TOPIC: Fringe

Fringe 3 years, 3 months ago #1

Anyone watching the new Fox show "Fringe"?  Is it showing over in Britain yet?

I must say that I am really enjoying it... especially the Dr. Bishop character.  For those who enjoy shows like the X-Files, Lost, and Heroes... you should give Fringe a chance.

I'm enjoying it too. Some great characters.

Dr. Bishop made a few comments on last night's episode that had me laughing out loud... and they're heading down an even "weirder" road.....

I've heard lots of good things about this show, although I haven't seen any of the episodes and I have no Idea what it is about. All I know is that it is written and directed by the team that are doing the new Star Trek film.

Could someone give me a background on it (no spoilers though)? I really like the X-Files so if it is anything like that then I am sure I will really enjoy it.

Basically... weird things are happening, specifically people are being killed/dying in some very bizarre ways (like an airline crash where everyone inside the plane has turned to jelly).  The FBI begins investigating & finds that it needs expert specialist scientific information to solve the mystery... and the expert is a mad scientist (Dr. Bishop) currently locked-down in a psychiatric hospital.  They get him released under the care of his son (bright, skeptical, and living on the wrong side of the law)... the mad scientist, his son, and a small team of FBI agents work together to solve the mystery... that leads to a larger mystery (called "The Pattern"), and uncovers agents serving another master within the FBI.

It is sort of like crossing "CSI" with "The X-Files"... with a bit of "Lost" and "Heroes" for good measure.

"Fringe" and "Battlestar Galactica" are my only 2 must-see shows... well, and (I'm ashamed to admit) "American Idol".......

I love sci-fi, but haven't been able to get into Lost or Heroes. This does sound very interesting to me though so I think I will wait for the DVD release and watch from the beginning.

P.S. American Idol? Seriously???  ;D
