but finally Ireland have managed to complete another Grand Slam with victory against Wales today. It was touch and go for most of the game, but they managed to hang on in the end. I couldn't watch Stephen Jones' last penalty in injury time that would have denied us the Grand Slam, but thankfully it just fell short by about a metre

I was in tatters towards the end of the game, I couldn't breath! Now I am pleased as punch, well deserved for all and a testament to all the hard work the guys have put in over the years.  Ireland will have a hell of a hangover tomorrow!

Not that interested in rugby but i watched the last 10 mins of Wales v Ireland and it certainly was a tension-filled 10 mins. Well done to Ireland for winning the Grand Slam!

I'm a nervous wreck after watching my team loose to a thoroughly deserving Irish team yesterday.
    They played their hearts out but sadly it may take another 61 years for them to reach that peak of commitment again ?
            It has though been one of the best competitions in years this season hasn't it ;D

It mostly surely has - I bet we have quite a few Irish players going on the plane for the Lions tour too? That wasn't the best game of rugby I have seen, far too scrappy in places and the tensions were high on both sides, but boy it was exciting.

Quality wise, it wasn't the best game ever, there was too much at stake for that. Declan Kidney has brought something akin to "Munster Spirit" to team that they lacked in recent years, despite having some world class players. I don't know if it'll be another 61 years before we win another Grand Slam, but most of the players are now over 30 so this was probably their last chance. We still have some good younger players, a la Fitzgerald and O'Leary, but it could be a while before Ireland have more players with the class of O'Driscoll, O' Gara and O'Connell.
