Maria Darlington is doing the Three Peak Challenge next month in support of Tanzed, a small international development charity which works to improve primary school education in the Morogoro region of Tanzania. This is a great cause to support, so please visit her justgiving page and dig deep.

Averil and I went to a primary school in the Ngorongoro region of Tanzania last year. It blows you away to see the amazing kids they are turning out with such limited resources. Makes you feel very humble.

Is that the Yorkshire Three Peaks or the Ben Nevis/Snowdon/Scafell one? Whichever, its a great cause.

I would like to thank you ALL who have sponsored me so far on my Three Peak Challenge and a very special and HUGE thank you for Nick, who posted this message on here. I will be walking the Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon route in 24hrs including travel time ... so not much sleep in between hikes. It is said to be equivalent to running three marathons in 24 hours 
The fact that with this walk I’ll help lots of small children in Tanzania makes me so very happy and hopefully there will be plenty more generous Australian Pink Floyd fans out there who will donate for this great cause. I promise I’ll keep you updated on my walk.

I do hope that some of the money raised will be given to the relevent MRT's for each the three peaks and that you also consider this, that the general consensus within the BMC (British Mountaineering Council) is that any money raised doing the 'three peaks' is outweighed by the money needed for path and signage upkeep, rescues (of which there are many) hospitalisations (injury) and polution by the myriad of teams rushing up and down the country doing this :-\

However worthy a cause you are raising money for, there are always other issues to consider and you will need to be very fit and prepared for bad weather, (see recent Snowdon Run in the news) where things went very wrong even in late May.
