TOPIC: International Space Station

International Space Station 1 year, 10 months ago #1

I've just seen the ISS pass overhead. Being a bit of an amateur astronomer I am quite familiar with satellites, planes, weather balloons and more recently Chinese lanterns passing overhead. This evening I was sat out in my back garden and witnessed an extremely bright satellite pass overhead which I managed to catch in my binoculars. I suspected that it was the ISS due to it's brightness and sure enough, when I checked on NASA's web site, they confirmed the fly pass. I have seen the ISS a number of times in the past but never as bright as this evening.
Are we nearly there yet?

That's awesome! Was it around sunset? That's when it seems to be the brightest to me because of the suns reflection. Glad you got to see it! Do you have a telescope?
I got a strong urge to fly......but I got nowhere to fly to.

Thanks Andy.
WW It was about I hour after sunset & very bright indeed. I had a telescope some years back but increasing light pollution made it difficult to use for all except the moon & planets. I prefer binoculars anyway so no real problem.
