I wasn't really sure what to expect, when friends of ours asked us if we'd like to go along to see the Queen tribute 'Gary Mullen and the Works' performing their 'One Night of Queen' show.
Last night at the Norwich Theatre Royal. It really is quite a show, although a tad short at 2x 1 hour sets, but there again we are spoiled by Aussie Floyd 2½ hour shows!
OK 'Freddie' wears a wig and a stick on Freddie moustache, but his performance and voice is uncanny, it IS Freddie Mercury up there, backed up by a fantastic note-for-note band. A good rock lightshow too, nice to see them using the old style 70s lights, not the modern vari-lites. If you like Queen, see them if you can.
A great night out, the crowd was well up for it!
...also, going to the Theatre Royal last night, first time for a while, reminded me how small in width the stage is, although it is quite deep. Interesting to see how TAPFS will fit all their gear on that stage next month. Steve Mac's rig, Bonneys kit and Jason's keys will take up all of the space with room for little else! A very cosy gig for sure...Norfolk is in desperate need of a decent sized music venue.
